Could The McLaren Sports Series Be The Mid-Engined Wonder The Porsche 911 Turbo Never Was?

t’s now been confirmed that McLaren will reveal its all-new Sports Series at the New York Auto Show in April. It could end up being the mid-engined supercar the Porsche 911 Turbo was never allowed to become. Blame purists for pressuring Porsche all these years for keeping its signature model butt-engined. Perhaps that’s why a Cayman GT4 is in the works, but it’s still no mid-engined 911 Turbo substitute. In fact, McLaren is also aiming squarely at the Mercedes-AMG GT and, to a lesser extent, the BMW i8.
